The Danson Mwashako Foundation is a community-rooted organization dedicated to improving the well-being of underserved communities through inclusive, practical, and locally-driven interventions. Our work focuses on environment, health, empowerment, education, and access to clean water.
We are based in Taita Taveta County, Kenya, with programs reaching rural and underserved communities across the region.
The MtiMtoto Initiative is our flagship environmental program that links the birth of a child with the planting of 10 trees — five at home and five at a school — promoting environmental conservation, community ownership, and climate resilience.
We provide mentorship and career guidance in schools through our partnership with Undugu Mentorship Initiative. We also sponsor school fees for bright but needy students, helping them pursue their academic dreams.
Yes. We work with community health promoters to conduct household health screenings, identify early signs of illness, and refer individuals for treatment — ensuring faster care and reduced healthcare costs for families.
Under the Water for All Children initiative, we install school water tanks, boreholes, and household purification solutions to ensure clean, safe water is accessible — reducing absenteeism and improving children’s health.
Through the Badilisha Maisha Movement, we provide youth, women, and people living with disabilities with support in agriculture and business — including training, irrigation systems, farm inputs, and access to markets.
